I do believe in God but what I don't like about non-believers is that their parents didn't taught them. And besides that most of them are stubborn. But sadly none of the non-believers read The Holy Bible that is the proof they need but of course they think that man wrote it when God wrote it but of course he is a man in human because he's Jesus.

I was raised in a Christian home and used to be Christian. I stopped believing after really reading the Bible and seeking questions to the answers it raised about how God was not very consistent or loving. Also, the book seemed so obviously written by not particularly holy men back in barbaric times. I did further reading into biblical scholarship and realized that the Bible was written by many different authors over vast periods of time and long after Jesus's death. There may be as many as 40 authors and there are forgeries and omissions that raise many questions about it being a reliable document as well. I do think it is a valuable book for showing us human's changing understanding of God and it has some good teachings, but I don't embrace it as accurate. I tend to be neutral about the idea of God but I don't feel that most Christian's version of God is a true picture. I think if there is a God he/she is very different and not nearly so intolerant, jealous, and wrathful. I just can't imagine a divine being capable of creating the universe being so petty, like a mean man, which is how the OT presents God. The NT is better but I think if there was a historical Jesus his teachings were perverted by the later writers who had an agenda. I think someone speaking for God would have promoted less gender discrimination and would have forbidden slavery. I mean a just and loving God would be more concerned about rape and slavery than women not being allowed to talk in church right? The NT is pretty neutral on rape and slavery but Paul waxes on how women shoud teach, should cover their heads in church, etc...I don't buy it at all. I guess this is why I don't believe in Christianity but some of the people I know think not believing in Christianity is pretty the same thing. Also, I do believe in evolution because I went on to get my degree in biology. I don't think its a conspiracy like some Christians, I've studied the evidence and I find it convincing as do most scientists. I know some Christians believe in evolution and God but many on here feel that evolution denies God and that it is all an evil atheist conspiracy. *shrug*

god isn't real because that name is just there to fill in the incomplete pieces of life like why are we here since we don't know many say god why? because we are just mere humans we dint know much and to find answers to things if we don't find a logical explanation in this planet we just fill that space with the name of god. the name of god was invented and is used by church to make a profit with that name. There's no god the symbol of god exists to try to explain what no one can and that's life itself its not easy when you worship an idea that's not proof all you ever see or hear is name but no proof of it. Man created god to fill in the blanks. Anything they didn't understand? God did it. They still do it today, just look at intelligent design. The entire idea of that is "ok, we understand *some* of how life came to be, let's just fill in the rest with god".I still believe it would be better if we could just admit we don't know. Its all faith but no facts we use god to answer things that we cant.

I have far to many reasons to post them all here. You can e-mail me if you want more.

1. No religious wrighting can be taken literally. The advances we have made in scinces has proven that a literal translation is imposible.

2. The existance of evil. We all agree that evil exists. Since that is true only God cannot be both all powerful and all good.

3. Monotheism creates division.

4. There is NO supporting evidence for any diety. You must take it on faith.

5. I belong to a debate group. The christian debaters try to sneak lies and falacies in every argument.

6. BibleGod is an immoral being that can't make his minde up.

7. Jesus is not the Jewish Messiah. He does not meet the requirments.

All I can depend on truly, is myself. :) In the end, you're around yourself more than ANYTHING in the whole universe.

I believe in me. More people should, then they wouldn't need to hope that some other force out there will save them when they screw up, when things go wrong, etc etc.

And to the fella who seems to think people who don't believe, were never taught... I was taught, mercilessly! 12 years in Catholic schools, made me wish that there was other denominations of schooling in the country! If anything, the preeching, screeching, and idiocy drove me away faster than anything POSITIVE there might have been. If anything. ;)

PS, please, don't pray for me. ): I'm content to be who I am. if some relatively newly created 'God' out there truly wants to stick it to me in the end, he's fully free to. If not, well, good for me, huh?

PPS, Satan is a religious concept. Without Satan, there is no God! With no God, there is no Satan! Religious darlings, quit thinking that one is possible without the other. :P

it's impossible for god to be all-loving AND all-powerful, and still allow people to go to hell.

think about it. why doesn't god let EVERY SINGLE person into heaven. it's either because he CAN'T (not all-powerful) or he doesn't WANT to (not all-loving). there's no other reason why people would have to go to hell.

(another contradiction at the core of christianity,,,, how can man have freewill if god is the one who determines every single aspect of the universe??? think about it. the two ideas cannot co-exist.)

also,, there is no need to assume there is a god. learn about evolution and abiogenesis (and learn them THOROUGHLY) and you will understand how life can evolve from non-life. (be careful though. it's a tricky subject, and if you learn it from a christian website, then they'll probably leave important stuff out.)

I don't believe in god because I can't see or feel him. I have no proof that he exists. I don't believe in god because I think that if god existed, people wouldn't have to suffer so horribly.

There is a god...you. It's everything good you feel. It is nature running about it's own pace. When things go wrong in your life, you have to blame something....When you have a question, it's others you look for. No answers, until the end of life. And then you can't tell anyone.

Prove to me that Zeus could logically exists and I'll stop believe in Creation, and start worshiping my own fairy tale God who does what I tell Him to do.

If you weren't taught does that mean you have no capabilty to believe or use your know knowledge to gain understanding? The responsibilty is your's to question why you live, not your parents.
