I know there's chlorine and a bunch of other stuff in swimming pools and I just want to make sure it's safe to let my dog play in the pool.

My German Shepherd loved to play in the pool. I did rinse his coat with fresh water when he finished swimming, as the chlorine made his coat dry and his skin dandruffy.

Otherwise there were no problems. The chlorine kills any 'bugs' that the dog might carry.

Dogs are cleaner than some people in pools. They don't pee in the water...A dog will never soil water with pee or poo.

My daschund swims in my pool all the time. Just make sure that you don't let your dog swim too often because of the chlorine. After swimming, I usually give my dog a bath to get rid of all the chemicals. If your dog loves swimming, then why not?

The dog will not be harmed from swimming in the pool. But, the equivlant of a dog swimming in a pool is like the oils of one hundred people in the pool.

Unless the dog is sensitive to the chlorine or your afraid he'll rip the lining, I don't see a problem. My sister keeps a wading pool full for her dog.

i know other people who let their dogs swim in the pool... they just shock it afterward.. it wouldn't hurt to call the vet and ask... salt water pools are okay for your furry friend to swim in because the ph level is the same as your tears

I'd run some clean water over him afterwards, to get the chlorine off. And don't forget to rinse his eyes.

I would think not as long as the dog is not left un attended. [Just like a child] I am not a vet, but I wouldn't think that it would be harmful. Let me know if you find out differently Please.
