I guess it's too late to recommend breast milk, since it sounds like your baby is already drinking formula. However, in case you're thinking WAY ahead and haven't even had the baby yet, I'd like to humbly repeat what you've probably heard from a million other people -- breastmilk is WITHOUT A DOUBT the most healthy, nutritious, compatible and safe food for a baby and its still-immature digestive system and immune system. :)
I was NOT a breastfed baby, because when my mom was pregnant, society was going through a stage of "discouraging" women from nursing their babies. (This was 1972). I don't know why it was like that. :( And unfortunately, my mom didn't know anyone to set her straight and make a pitch for nursing me, so I was never given breastmilk. And I can't help but wonder if several of my past and current health problems might not have been this way, if I'd been breastfed. Of course, there's no way to change things now.
Anyhoo, sorry for the rambling answer. :) I have no opinion about switching from formula to cow's milk, because I don't have a baby, and everyone I know who HAS had babies, has breast-fed them for at least 6 full months.

You MUST wait until they are 1 whole year old!! I had asked a few different doctors with both of my kids and that is what they all said! When he/she is a year old, switch them to whole milk. Hope I helped!

I have 4 kids and the doctors reccomend not giving milk 2% until they reach 12 months old. If you give it to your kids before that, it could harm your kids.
