That Islam is a tolerant peaceful religion? I know that the actions of a few extremists do not speak for everyone, but all I see lately is the actions of Islamic extremists... please someone tell me that there are still some sane Muslims out there somewhere. If you are a Muslim tell me how this story makes you feel. Can there be any real justification for these actions?

Here's the story in question:

Hey I never said Christians were tolerant or rational... But you don't see many stories about them killing other Christians for watching TV.

This was not meant to be a Christian bashing question (although nobody enjoys Christian bashing more than me) I want to hear from some so-called moderate Muslims on this one. Try and justify the actions taken here, if you dare.

nes brings up an interesting point... If the match had been between two Islamic countries like Saudi Arabi and Iran, do you think the people watching would still have been murdered? Just Curious.

Nice can of worms here.

We live in a society that has taught that we are all just highly evolved animals. Don't dare say that we are a more enlightened society, because that implies that there is a higher standard and since there ultimately is no higher authority, there can not be a higher standard.

Survival of the fittest, only the strong survive. This is the law of nature. This is the only natural law that we understand. Compassion, love, justice are for the weak and logically has no basis in our society. A spider does not show compassion for its prey caught in its web. Love is purely a bio-chemical reaction. Are tigers unjust when they single out the weakest and slowest of the herd to feed upon?

So, if some radical faction shoots people participating in a pointless form of entertainment, they are just fulfilling the natural law. Whatever their ideology may be.

Humanists should condone if not applaud this action. People who want to let their minds and bodies turn to mush through meaningless entertainment have no redeeming value for mankind. Perhaps those gunmen should now seek out other weak stains on society, unwed mothers, handicapped, mentally retarded, elderly, orphans.

Imagine there's no heaven, it's easy if you try.

By what standard of right and wrong do you say this action is wrong? What is making you feel incensed by the injustice you see in the news? If you were there, would you be shaking your fist in defiance to the shooters or would you be joining them because you desire to live? Can our species evolve mentally and physically if we continue esteem compassion, love, and justice?

If you've not noticed, christianity incessantly claims "god is love" yet has endless rules that must be obeyed or "suffer an eternity in hell". The christians claim "thou shalt not kill", yet they join the army and kill others, resort to violence and terrorism as the KKK, Nazis and anti-abortionists.

The muslims make their claims with the same intent as christians or any other religion: rationalizing one's own behaviour while criticizing those who don't share their religion while performing the same acts.

How can you say that the Christian religion is tolerant and rational after seeing my sources? The door flings both ways.

These people are to Islam what the KKK is to Christianity. A crazy, violent "off shoot" of the true believers, who think of themselves more than the God they love, and "serve". Remember that God (by whatever name you pray to) wants spiritual fruit, not religious nuts.
