you had a root canal if the nerve was removed. the tooth itself is dead ;it cannot get infected but the hole where the nerve was can...need to get it filled or crowned asap. also, if the tooth isnt crowned, it can shatter if bit down on too hard.

if when you had the nerve removed from the tooth- the dentist also filled the canals and sealed everything then you are in good shape and shouldn't need an extraction.

if he didn't fill the canals with a final fill that finishes the procedure then unless the procedure is completed- it will become reinfected.

after a root canal as been done- typically , you will follow that procedure with full coverage such as a crown to furthur protect the tooth from breaking

The chances of it getting infected is minimal. infection may occur if the root canals were not properly cleaned. but not to worry. many pple do fine with RCT. its better to keep ur natural teeth thn to hve it replaced.

well it could you should just get it extracted and if it a permenate tooth you can always get a brige cuz you don't want to take any chances with your mouth.

yes it would have and hurt like H e l l untill taken care of and even that step does not feel good either but that is short lived.
