What do 1st degree burns look like?
2nd?
3rd?

Thank you everyone. But recently I got burned, and now that I see the degrees of burn, I have 3rd degree burn on my right index finger. The black isn't that big, and since it wasn't painful I didn't think I should go to the doctors.

How do you treat 3rd degree burns?

First degree burns are just a bit red.
Second degree burns have white blisters.
Third degree burns are charred skin (it may be grey or black, and is ashy).

First degree is a partial thickness burn (it only burns the upper layers. A mild sunburn is a first degree burn. You'll see some redness (or erythremia).

Second degree burn is also a partial thickness burn (it still doesnt burn the entire skin thickness). It is red with blisters.

A third degree burn, or full thickness burn has char on it. The blisters are broken. It's a very serious burn.

There are also electrical burns and radiation burns. Radiation burns may occur within the body, and have no outward signs. Electrical burns may also be either on top of the skin or within the body.
