"honor your mother and father."
exodus 20, it's one of the ten commandments
I have always been taught that we should honor our parents no matter what. it is never promised that our parents would be perfect. but we hold them up to a higher respect than other people we know. consider Jesus Himself, when He was on the cross about to die, He made a point of making sure His mother would be cared for.
I know it can be hard to live with bad parents.....believe me, I know. but think, if we were messed up and unhappy, would we want our children to hate us? parents are special, you'll never be able to replace them. so love them despite their flaws.

Honor your father and mother that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you. Honoring is not allowing them to beat you up, or make you do something immoral.
Jesus points out that this is the only commandment with a promise attached to it.
If your friend can get permission to go to a good mainstream bible believing church on Sunday they would probably get some positive attention from the adults at Sunday school and lot of kindness and help(or a youth group if older). Those adults may even reach out to the kids parents and therefore help the kids in that way

They have a lack of understanding how God is. God says clearly in the bible that children are to honor their parents. It is one of the 10 commandments. Also in proverbs 20:20 God teaches from the bible to respect those that are in authority over us. Even if you are a grown adult you have people in authority over you.

According to Catholicism, it is acceptable for parents to do whatever they want to their children and the child is to not complain. It all seems to fall under the Commandment "to honor thy mother and father." It is assumed that one can not love God if one does not love his/her parents. There are no provisions or allowances for children who are clearly being abused or mistreated. I did discuss this idea with other religious leaders and the general consensus was the same.

tothe first question: no matter who may fail you Jesus Loves you.
The the second: God's Word is to honor you father and mother... The other part is covered in the commandment to love thy neighbor as yourself. Also the instruction to love thy enemy may well apply here as well.

The Bible says, "Honor thy father and mother." You don't have to love them, or necessarily obey them, but simply to honor them and bring honor to them. There's nothing in the Bible that says you have to love them. The closest thing would be to "Love your neighbor as yourself," but that is not the same kind of love...it simply means being kind, considerate, and unselfish.

I don't know what God has to say. I'm not him. I swear, people just try and find any excuse to turn against him!

My father and mom and uncles/aunts call me mija (it really is truly mi (my) and hija (daughter) prepare). Mija can advise daughter or sweetie or honey....it relies upon on the issue. Mija = for woman Mijo = for boy. different nicknames would nicely be mi reina (my queen), mi rey (my king), preciosa/o (invaluable), mi vida (my existence), corazon (heart), etc.
