The oddest was a fish eyeball, it tasted like liquid salt. Considering that salty liquids make me nauseous, I'd say it tasted nasty but if you like salty liquids, you might like it.

Duck stomach?? That's just gizzards! Look in the meat section of any Kroger's or Safeway store. You can get Chicken gizzards by the pint.

The second strangest thing I ever ate was a little snail that my Portugese boss had me try when I was 19. He called them "lapis."

His uncle brought them back from some tide pools near San Diego. They were about the size of a silver dollar. They tasted like the ocean but sweeter.

I took one into the washroom to clean it of all the green stuff and he scolded me, "Hey, don't do that! That's the syrup!" You scrape the first one out of the shell with your teeth and use the clean shell to help with each subsequent morsel.

He always had an old plate covering the bowl. That keeps them from crawling away while you eat the others alive.

I can't remember what the first strangest thing was. Lapis was enough.

Me? Nothing too crazy. Especially now that I'm a vegetarian. I had some crazy gumbo in New Orleans once. I think it was pork sausage, but who knows.

My dad, on the other hand, has eaten some really crazy stuff. He was in the Navy and spent a lot of time in Japan, Vietnam, and the Philippines. He's eaten all kinds of things from monkey, octopus, alligator, snake, . . . This list goes on and on! He said that they usually just had to point to something on the menu and hope it was edible. He would try anything once and said he'd eat anything that didn't eat him first!

On a recent trip to South Korea I tried a delicacy of live, baby squid and octopus. While still alive and squirming they bring them out in a bowl. You then grab one and shove your chopsticks in back of its head. Then you can dip it in a wasabi mustard sauce and then you stuff it down your mouth whole. It tickles a bot going down and especially in the stomach. I live in Japan and that Korean delicacy is weirder than anything here. I also traveled around many countries and have never encountered something so nasty.

Squiirel, rabbit, and frog legs. I have no idea if it was good or not. I was fed this kind of stuff when I was little and had I been older I would have refused to eat such things. One weird thing I have ate is deer AKA venison. It's delicious.

octopus. Or more specifically those deep fried balls that contain octopus suckers that Japanese make and have fish or seafood shavings over it. I believe they're called takoyaki.

Went to Japan and tried it. I thought it was squid until I saw the big suckers. It was actually okay.

Crocodile tastes like chicken.

Cicadas, fresh from the shell. They tasted like potato. And horse meat in a garlic cream sauce. It tasted better than beef.

Sweet shrimp sushi.. they deep fry the head in tempura eyeballs, antenna, and legs. I order one every time I go to sushi and gross out my non-sushi friends. It's fun. I really want to try frog sashimi or blowfish.
