Hi,
I would advise you to give yourself a chance to go meet new friends around you and be daring enough to go out with unfamilar ppl. The important thing is to feel at ease when you are out on a date. Nervous will only make you look timid..
One simple tip: If the guy is interested in knowing you further..he will not mind waiting for you, to see you again n again.
But make sure you do not go follow the guy to his home on the first date. He could think you are an easy target.

I think it's important to know yourself first. Know who you are, where you're headed in life, know what you like, know what impresses you in a partner. Also know all the things that you cannot tolerate in another person. That'll get you started. Once you find someone who you click with, can talk to, have similar goals, values,etc. and he makes your toes tingle, then break out the check list. If he still meets all of the other criteria and can help you reach your goals in life, then you have the makings of a soulmate. It makes it difficult in the long run if you start overlooking things, how many people say "but I love him/her" after noting a fatal flaw in the person that dooms the relationship. Heart and mind have to meet and agree he's the one.

Look at the way that he treats you. Judge by what your heart tells you and u will know if he is what u are looking for just by the way that he makes u feel and if he can accept you for all of your misperfections. If he treats you like u are a princess and like u have always wanted to be treated then u know that u got the man that was meant for you.
