Males become sexually mature between 6 and 8 months of age.
PS: you do not need to show a dog to Champion in order to breed him or her..That is what people like to say to get you not to do it..

Assuming you intend to breed responsibly. You should have the tests for whatever are the genetic problems in your breed. Eyes, patellas whatever the problems recurrent in the breed. Unless it has changed recently puppies cannot be registered with AKC unless the sire is at least 9 manths old.

Why breed? There are thousands of dogs being killed in animal shelters every day. So why add to that number? And if you don't even know at what age he is sexually mature you obviously don't know enough to breed him.

If your dog has not been shown, and is not a champion..or has not been health tested..there is NO reason to breed him. if you "don't care about what you produce" then you are not breeding to better the breed.. you are breeding for money.
I advise you to NOT breed this dog.

After you have shown him to championship. And done all the gentic testing. And found a waiting list for the puppies.
THEN you can breed him responsibly.

Please reconsider breeding. There are too many homeless animals in the world and you would just be adding to the problem. Please have a heart. Also if you don't know what age the animal should be then chances are you shouldn't be breeding.

Tis true, your dogs don't need to be good examples of their breed, nor health tested, if you're not picky about what you produce. Some care, others don't...sadly.
