I live in California and recently i saw a bumper sticker on a car that said "I'm already against the next war".Everyone probably agrees that War is horrible and should be a last resort. Many people I know just think that their sohuld never be wars because people die in them. But if people did not fight in WW2 wouldn't the Nazis have power now? If the United States did not fight a civil war wouldn't the US still be divided to this day? I am not saying i am pro war because i do not agree for the current Iraq war and I believe that Vietnam was a true waste of lives. I believe to a degree war helps keep the world in a state of checks and balances. War is sort of the equilizer for good and evil. What are your opinions?

No nation ever realy 'wins' in a war :
The victors may have defeated their 'enemy', but they have also paid a heavy price for it - in terms of their losses of numerous precious lives, and resources as well.

War. Wow, good question. I definately do not agree with war. It is a useless waste of innocent lives. However, being that this is not Utopia or Heaven then what are we really to do. Many times peace can not be reached without destructive measures, because people do not like to admit they are wrong. It might not be the best thing to do, but war does solve a lot. However, there are such things as senseless wars. Look at Uganda. That is senselss and stupid. Anyways, war is just one of those things that happens to be the only solution that we have right now. It is way better than sending nuclear weapons all around the globe and cause nuclear winter. Plus, what do you do when Peace can not be reached. It is a good tool for now. But I definately think that my generation and the ones after me should look for alternatives.

Most of the wars, in which America was involved, could have been resolved politically and not military. Our government always tries to solve issues by curing the symptoms without focusing on the causes. However, only governments and giant oil companies mostly benefit from wars. Yes it is necessary for them. Look at Iraq for instance. American oil companies are digging in Iraq to find new oil (Newly discovered oil well: Al-Qurna well). America is manufacturing new artillery. Middle East is purchasing our weapons now from the fear of Iran. Our government is making lots of money from that...but unfortunately, it is all wasted by Bush's Miss-handling of the war of Iraq.

Oh really - so war doesn't solve anything. Well lets see where we would be just this century if we didn't go to war.

We would be speaking German twice over, and all of our Jews would be massacred.
There would be drug runners in control of the Panama Canal.
All of Bosnia and Serbia would have been ethinically cleansed.
Kuwait would be under Saddam Hussein's rule, the Kurds would have been wiped, a major source of oil for our country would have been blocked, creating financial and military havoc since our country is deeply reliant on oil.
Communism would not have died the cold death it did.
And terrorists would have plenty of time planning their next attack on us, instead of worrying about us "converting" one of their Arabic brethren nations.

War is always necessary when governments attempt to expand there ruling territory. In the history of the world, peace was only achieved when a war was won.

A wise man once said, 'Naked violence has solved more conflicts than diplomacy'.
War is a sin, but in some cases it is a necessary one. So go to confession, say a few Hail Marys and get on your knees and pray that Bush's time in office ends before I end up somewhere else.

It just depends. If you are being oppressed and have no rights, then war is very necessary. If you are sitting on your butt in the U.S., live in a nice house, have a full stomach, and think a bad day is not getting to watch 10 hours of TV, then war is very unnecessary for you.

Open a fricken history book. Or maybe just read the question. War may not be the best way to solve something. But that does not mean it cannot solve something.

u r confused my dear fellow! its not a neccisity...its not a need anyways...war is important...it might become a need when the dignity is at sake...when the indpendence is in trouble..when lives are under threat..but not rquired just to show one's power..they only become essential with the context of the situation..for instance...had pakistan not fought 1965 war...it woulds have been demoilished...it was a necciasty for them at that tme...and had USA not invaded in IRAQ they would have been safe...which they arent today...they made it a neccisity...though it wasnt one

I think that war is a necessary evil. Leaders are obligated to protect their people, and war is sometimes the only way to do that.
