That's a good question. Smoking would be far less dangerous if certain additives were removed. Which ones nobody knows because anti-smoking campaigns jump up and down about cigs without really knowing what is causing the problem. The same problem that other groups besides smokers are being exposed to on a dailly basis. It's just politically expeidient and easy to say smoking is evil and let people die both smoker and non-smoker/non-exposed to cig smoke.
Think about it some people smoke into thier 80s without a problem. Some wind up with problems in thier 40s. It's not purely genetics. If so ex-smokers would still die of cancer at the same rate, just a different cancer. It's a combination of exposure to cigs and something(s) else. I feel it's crucial to find out what those other things are and how they interact. To not do so is just plain murder.
The addictive part of your question is easy. They want to make money. No soul to the companies, long as they make money all is good. Not any different than companies like Microsoft, Proctor Gamble and so on.

Who would know more about cigarettes than the tobacco companies. If it caused you any harm, why would they sell them?

To keep you addicted, so you can't quit. And, of course, the government allows it due to the fact that Big Tobacco just about owns the government.

Because it addicts people to where they get money from people who smoke. The people who work there are selfish bast.ards.
P.S. I only say bad words when i am fed up with them. And tobacco company's is one of them.

Because they want you to keep buying there product so that they can make more profit. You better of not smoking at all; it's an addictive drug.

They don't. Nicotine is naturally in the tobacco plant it is not added.
