no, but I had a friend that did, and now he can't hardly walk. My wife tried the epidural shots, and she is in more pain now than she was before.

I haven't but my other half did. She was a mess her spine was so bad she couldn't even stand. She was confined to a wheelchair for all but the shortest distances and was in constant pain. She was taking morphine 4 times a day just to get by. Now 1 year after her spinal fusion she is pain free, and able to stand upright again. She has returned to a normal life.

It is very important to have a skilled Dr. Go to a major teaching hospital if at all possible. This is an operation I would not have performed by just any Dr.

No never had back surgery but beware! I had a spine doc. wanting badly to fuse my cervical spine saying a pinched nerve was causing muscle wasting in my hand. Turns out I have a Motor Neurone Disease that is the problem. True my cervical spine is not the best but not the problem. You don't say what your problem is I always thought my back was shot. I was floored when I was told I have Motor Neurone Disease.

Yes in 2000 and it was GREAT.
I had a herniated disc (L4/L5) and it was KILLING ME!! I could barely stand and walk. I was in constant pain sitting, standing, laying down, you name it. I couldn't escape the pain and it was exhausting. I had two small children at the time. They are 7 and 11 now. Anyway, I had a diskectomy and the scar is tiny and I am THRILLED with the results. It took about a year for me to believe it was better because it was still painful at times. But now I forgot I even had it. Good luck! Get recommendations......don't just go to anyone.

Yes, and yes. I went into the hospital in horrible pain and came out with only the discomfort from the incision and staples. I've been pain free ever since.
