My hair is 5 inches past my shoulders, wavy and very thick! I don't have any layers in it. How should I describe what I want to my hairdresser so that she understands what I want?!?!?

I feel like going retro..!!

My first inclination would be hot rollers or a rounded brush, but I had a retro movie mag from back in the 70's that said that her stylist used pin curls on her hair, so I dunno.

I don't know if every stylist today could do a farrah... you may want to go for an older stylist who would have been doing that look in the 70's.

Tell her you want the Farrah Fawcett hairstyle .Check out different hairstylist before you let someone style your hair. I have had some bad experiences with hair stylist so be careful

Bigtony, dont ever give hair advice again. Show your beautician a picture of farrrah fawcett and make sure she uses a light holding spray so that you will not damage your hair in the process. She should use a curling iron or a flat iron for this service.

The best way to let your hairdresser know what you want is to bring them a picture. The way to get your bangs like that is to bring them forward with a brush when they are wet, turn the ends up and blow dry. After they are dry brush then back and spray. You might have to tease them a bit if you want more lift. The sides can be done using rollers in the vertical position or a large barrel curling iron

In order to acheive that 70's look, you definitely need the layers framing your face! Look for photos of the hairstyles that you are going for so that your hairdresser has a reference! That way, you won't have to struggle with telling her what you want!

Not to put a Downer on the Joke. But that's nothing to laugh about. I can't believe people are talking this Junk 'bout MJ, When he just DIED!!! Ya sure he wasn't all that Normal, but c'mon. You still shouldn't be talkin disrespectfully about people who have died.

That hairstyle looks terrible. I lived it. Done that. You look like you're flagging down a plane when the wind blows (you have to wear tons of hairspray at first), you must constantly train it by combing it incessantly (big, fat handle combs in the back pocket), and you have to keep it in the right cut. Go for something that's not so high maintenance.
