Used to be "*****" simply meant "female dog." But people began to use the term to refer to an ill-tempered snarling human female probably because such females are reminiscent of mama dogs who snarl ferociously in defence of their puppies or territory.

It is the CORRECT TERM!!! Males are "dogs". Cats are Toms & Queens. Chickens are rooster & hen. Duck & drake. Goose & gander...etc,etc.
NOT mommy & daddy or boy & girl,etc. Don't be "cutsey",OK?
