The ozone layer hole over the antarctic is a cyclic process that has been worsened through the intervention of humanity during the last 120 years. The main culprits are Chloro-Fluorocarbons which were mainly used in aerosol cans during much of the latter part of the 20th century. Chlorofluorocarbons are also used as refrigerants and in air conditioning units.

Short of completely shutting down all Chloro-Fluorocarbon production...it seems that the most productive way of curtailing ozone reduction is for the industrialized nations to find alternatives and helping rising economies in the Third World to not use Chloro-Fluorocarbons

Recent research indicates that the ozone layer naturally thins and thickens over time. Goodness knows we have enough thunderstorms producing lightning, which in turn produces ozone, going on around the globe at all times.

Lets us support environmentalists and revive the ozone layer by simple contributions such as conserving energy, tree planting, getting rid of aerosols, decreasing carbon emissions, reducing smoke-belching and proper waste management. Those could be started and done right in our home.
