CONTACT HIM!!!
Just the other day, a girl that I kinda hung out with in junior high, lockered next to in highschool, but didnt hang out with, emailed me sorta out of the blue. She recently went to work with a female friend of mine, and my female friend told me this girl was asking about me so I told her to slide my email address over to her. I didn't have a crush on her or anything like your story, and I hadn't layed eyes on this girl since HS graduation, 10 FREAKING YEARS AGO!.
Well, she emailed me. I emailed her back. We talked on the phone. We went out, and now we have a little dating thing going on. We are each 28.
Trust me, nothing bad can come of this. Everyone, I don't care who they are, likes to know that people remember them, think about them, care about them enough to call, etc. Even if he is engaged to get married, hated you and so forth. He would still be nice. However, if he was in to you, then this will make his freaking day/week/year! I'm telling you, he will be freaking excited to hear from you.
I told you the story above, but that isn't the only one I have had over the years like that. I honestly had a girlfriend from like the time I was 14 till I got divorced. It was 3 different girls, but I was just never single....so since I have been single, I have heard from lots of girls that I can't even imagine how they found out my email, phone, that I was single, etc., I have became good friends with a few of them, dated a few of them...there was only 1 that contacted me that I didn't like, and I still emailed her back and forth and even talked on the phone with her for hours. It was still nice to hear from her.
Sorry for the long diatribe! I just cannot stress enough that nothing bad can come out of you contacting him. It doesn't matter AT ALL what you felt about him back then. Sometimes, jr high-highschool feelings are jaded by the crowds we hang with, popularity, peer pressure, etc. Give him a call!

Curiosity. Just hook up with him for a coffee. Catch up on old times. Hey, that just might work for you. You might just realized that he's not who you've been dreaming of.
