I don't believe that there is any question about his ability to have won an 8th tour but I also don't think the powers that be would ever let him participate or win without taint. Even after being cleared of all association with the doping scandal they continue to accuse Armstrong of cheating.

He got out at the right time and deserves the endorsement and fame that winning 7 in a row is bringing.

It wouldn't have been much of a challenge for him this year. This is a very interesting Tour with all of the top riders out and some others already injured. At least with Lance out of the picture, American cycling will get some more attention, in the likes of Landis, Hincappie, etc . . . most of whom had helped Lance win at least one of those 7.

he's doing it because of the fact he have been given an furnish from sponsors that he can not refuse - this is his activity not a entertainment activity. i'm additionally very inspired with Lance and function accompanied him for some years yet i don't choose him to compete next 12 months. it is going to make the excursion an excellent media hype and take the attention removed from all the different stunning cyclists interior the race. this is going to likely be very demanding to video demonstrate next 12 months with another commercial having Lance attempting to sell some thing and seeing all the cameras pointing at him whilst the different profession riders are snubbed. He needs to attain adequate is adequate.

Lance Armstrong? Of course. He is a very skilled rider and he deserves to go for the Tour de France every time he can.

NAAAAAAAH----Lance went to 7th Heaven---why waste for the eighth? He was simply the ULTIMATE, the TRUE SURVIVOR, and the most RESPECTED. He would WIN the eighth even if a hurricane passed by the Alps! Lance proved to mankind that road cycling is the TOUGHEST to overcome---and he did it sevenfold! God bless Lance!

He should have gone for all the OTHER races.

Not the one-day classics or semi-classics, but he could have gone for the other stage races (i.e. Tour of Italy, Tour of Spain, Paris-Nice, Tour of Germany, Tour of California, Tour of Britain, Tour of California).

He can't be Eddy Merckx, but could have been know for the best dominator of ALL stage races, in history.

And he is out of the limelight right now (which I'm sure he doesn't like). Plus, I'm sure he's getting bored. I think he could have done other better things IN cycling.

Cheers!

I feel he could have won 8 but, 7 was his mother's favorite number and also, he is thinking he would go to Heaven and wanted to match a number with it. But, aside from all that I am very impressed with the run he did have.

i think he retired when it was best for him. after winning so many in a row, i think he was losing motivation for his preferred event.
i also think the regimen that he had to keep to maintain his body weight was cutting into enjoying the life that his millions affords him.
