The mind is powerful justifier. Think about it long enough, and you'll be able to do anything you like, especially in the name of self-preservation. You'll only know for sure if you join the army, kill someone, and then stand before God in judgment one day.

Cast the dice. Play the hand. Some of it's skill. Some of it's chance.

Not a good answer I know, but no judgment on you by me.

You have to defend your Country that's a job of a soldier. You can join the Army.

1 Peter 2:17 - Honor all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the emperor.

Mark 12:24 Jesus said to them, "Is not this why you are wrong, that you know neither the scriptures nor the power of God"

It's the same concept as when people used to fight over Jerusalem, the Muslims as did the English who were invading the area called themsevles holy...the Muslims believed it was God's will to have them kill the Britians just to have the holy land itself. But if God says thou shalt not kill....how could it have been his will to have all those people murded on both sides. The point is, God gives us a choice, we have the choice to either follow him or go a different direction. People are fighting for our country and for our loved ones, however silly reason it may be that we are over there, we chose to go over there...our choice. Morals are what tell us to do...God is only an X factor in that decision

Since Jehovah was originally a Canaanite War-God, it stands to reason that He would be all for people joining the Army.

Jesus himself said "I come not to bring peace, but a sword".

Besides, religious differences have caused more wars than any other factor in history-- it would be nonsensical to suggest that religious people have no place in the Army.

Army people do not 'kill' necessarily ! In an ideal situation, they defend themselves, and the 'killers' get killed. In any major calamity, it is the army called upon for help to save lives. And if at all an army is 'used' to 'kill' the burden of the act rests upon the ruler, or the 'boss' who gives the order, but seldom indulges in the act itself !

Taking lives of another human being is never a good thing.
There might be some exception though.Won't you retaliate if you yourself are being threatened.Your family.Your love ones maybe.

I would imagine that if I were faced with a situation where someone is abaut to kill me, I might (I will try not to..)..but I might ,try to kill that person,(hopefully I will just inflict a serious injury) before that person kill me.

Self defence.

ya know I have wondered that for ages now but I guess in all the times ever existed there was always an army of some kind to protect whatever, so if you kill out of protecting your way of life then maybe...but it is a personal choice

I'm not so sure that the ten comandments is translated literally-after all, God helped 'bring down the walls of jerico'. That was during a war. i think the 'thou shalt not kill' has to do with a malice that has no reason-like a store clerk that you don't know or are threatened by. War is caused by a direct threat.

My family's religion says killing is wrong, and my son is over in Iraq for his second tour of duty making sure they don't kill you, and me. I feel pretty good about the reality that God forgives those who prevent killing, at whatever cost. My son: "An Army of One". You oughta be damn glad he's over there doing your lifesaving work. God Bless you.

Well I would think God wouldn't want an army, cos why wouldn't God be telling Bush to put down those guns, if she said killing is wrong?
