Yes I would. I always held the belief that children "are portable" !
If I can pack a diaper bag and/or a suitcase for a weekend at Grandma's, Then I can pack for a week on a cruise ship. You can get babysitting service (check the cruise line websites since times are limited) and the sea air is a great inducement to outdoor sleeping in a stroller or port-a-crib (provided theyre in the shade). I have been on 18 cruises and have often had complaints about the behavior of teens and adults but never of the babies or infants we've seen on board the various ships. I highly recommend Royal Caribbean, Princess and Carnival as they are all children friendly and have ample babysitting staff available. All the ships have children's pools as well so there can be some splashy water fun for baby and mom & dad too! While its true that your baby wont benefit from the memories you certainly will and imagine the picture opportunities for your little "world traveller's" scrap book!! By the way, unless your child is colicky, they obviously dont cry all the time so its highly unlikley that they will be a big disturbance to the rest of the passengers contrary to what has been said here. Polite reason says if the child is crying hysterically, simply return to your cabin and put them down for an obviously much needed nap! My advise--go for it. We have and never regretted it for one moment.

I would suggest that you not take an infant of a cruise because the baby will interfere with your enjoyment of what can be a great experience. Typically cruise ships have activities for children, but not for infants. Some do offer babysitting services for a fee. So you pay for a babysitter or you will be baby sitting all day while you are supposed to be on vacation.

Even if you go on a Disney cruise line, which specialize in cruises for kids and have Micky, Minnie, Goofie, and Pluto on board to entertain kids, your baby may be too young to appreciate the characters and the kids activities, and may be afraid of the Disney characters. If you do decide to go on a cruise and take a baby Disney woould be the best to go on.

When you cruise there are typically mostly adult things to do on ships. Ships have arcade rooms for teens and kids of all ages can enjoy the pools. Some ships have kids only pools or pool areas. Check the Royal Caribbean and Princess sites below.

The baby will get in the way most often if you plan to do tours off the ship. You hahve to carry the baby and stroller, and keep up with the group on the tour. Then there is the chance of the baby detracting from the tour by crying and/or just figeting.

We have been on over 12 cruises and we have rarely seen people with babies.

Never!
- A baby is not aware enough of their surroundings to appreciate a cruise.
- A baby needs constant supervision, so you would not fully enjoy the cruise.
- Most shore excursions are not suited to babies.
- You could not take the baby in to the shows, movies and other events on the ship where quiet is required.

Cruises are meant to be a getaway. Get Grandma and Grandpa to babysit while you get away.

I think ships doesn't allow that unless the baby is more than 6 months old http://www.rhoda.joystar.com

No. Not just for your comfort, but for the comfort of other guests.

Also, infants are much more likely to get sick from community illnesses, so you may be exposing him/her to something that you have an immunity to and s/he doesn't. With only a small clinic on board, they may not be able to treat or care for the child as well as they should.
