Same reason bikers like the wind in their hair but if you go up and blow on their face they smack you... Because you're pissing them off.

Putting your face that close to your dogs face is a pretty intimidating thing to do and then blowing in his face is even worse. No wonder he bites you.
I think the fresh air from a car window has a ton of different smells that most dogs love to check out. My dog has her nose on the air vent most the time when the window isn't open.

The dog sticks his head out of the window of a car because they like the smell and the feel of the air, and of all the many scents the get, and when you blow in the dogs face, they take that as an act of play and they nip at you, or as sign I want to fight or I challenge you.for your position or your spot in the group.

It doesn't bite if it sticks its head out the window because it expects the air rush coming. It doesn't expect YOU to blow in its face. Besides, if you blow in a dog's face, you just blow bad stuff into its eyes.

I thought dogs lick at your breath, I have never heard of one biting for blowing in their face....I think like us they like the breeze but it is hard to breathe while your doing that..
Maybe they are trying to catch a free meal..

A dog is doing the car window thing voluntarily. I wouldnt like it if someone was to come up and blow in my face - would you?!?!?!?
However, the cool breeze is probably a reflief to them from the car!
Never blow in a dogs face, they may see it as a challenge perhaps?!

Dogs love all the smells going by as he sticks his head out the window of the car ... normaly pull his head in when he smells something unpleasant . / it must be your breath are he simply does not like you ... does he do this with everybody that blows in his face ? I have a German Shepard and 2 Shih tzu .. when ever i blow in their face they always start licking my face.
you must establish respect first.

Because that dog is smarter then the average dog. That is the best time to get pay back for all the stupid mistakes his owner made to him in the past, and what better way than to seize the very moment, and make it look like it was your mistake, not his!
Next time lick his privates for him in front of your company, and see what happens.

A breeze and your own breath is very different. If you blow at a dog, it might take it offencive, so don't even bother unless your waiting for it to attack you. (My dogs don't bite me when I blow at them, they lick me. LOL) But anyways, leave the poor dog alone.

Because your invading their privacy, most dogs dont like people all up in their faces. I have two dogs my littlest one hates it when u blow in her face and she'll bite your nose, but my older one loves it and he licks at the air. But my little one is still a puppy what do u expect? They bite everything.
