Too bad you can't learn by using the knowledge of others who have done it. You can learn, what they learned, the hard way; by repeating their mistakes.

Some things can only be learned by experience. Would you trust someone to work on your car that has only read books about cars? I certainly would not trust someone like this to rebuild a motor for my vehicle. Books and other methods of leaning can be more valuable, but it depends on the situation. If a person learns by experience, it doesn't make the person dumb.

I agree that experience is a great way to learn. I tried playing softball a couple years ago. I knew nothing about it. I just got out and started playing and now I'm pretty good at it.

A very apt statement in today's world where children will not learn from the mistakes of their parents or the mistakes made in the past as recorded in history.

I would say this:
"Experience is the ONLY teacher if you are between 15 - 25 years old".
