Some families are like that. However, it is possible to move on with your life and be self-sufficient. Can you find a new job and make arrangements to carpool with a friend who drives nearby? Maybe you can find a job within walking distance or use public transportation? It might be possible to find odd jobs in your neighborhood until you get enough saved to get another car.
Did you not save any money at all while you were working? Start with a budget and figure out what you are spending now. Cut out everything that is not essential so you don't exhaust what you already have.
It is not your family's responsibility to help you. Sure, it would be nice, but they are under no obligation to do so. Once you start to accept that, you will begin to realize that you can make it on your own. Good luck to you.

You should not depend on your family to get you out of this fix. If they want to help that's different, but you should not expect it. You can still find a job without a car. Get a ride with someone. Take a taxi. That may sound harsh, but once you are grown you should be on your own. If they want to and are able to they will help you. If not, go it alone. You will feel better not owing anyone any favors.

Some families do this sort of thing to teach responsibility-
I think they should be more responsible for you, since they brought you into the world. Anyway, try your local cheap car dealership-
if you have any cash at all many are willing to give you a shot, locally it's the Kia dealers selling new cars for $88 down!

look for a job near your home .get an bike , even a second hand one for the time being ,look for a job where you live in? ask every older person do they know of work anywhere" sooner or later you will hit the jackpot. do voluntary work for someone in a work area you would like to do ,they may hire you after you show then how good you work.

You can try talking to them. Yeah, I know its hard, but in times like those family and friends are the only people you can ask for help.
