The metabolytes of lidocaine hydrochloride are not the same as cocaine. The drug test looks for the presence of the metabolytes. Therefore, you will not test positive. If you are taking lidocaine hydrochloride, your doctor should be able to clear this up for you because this stuff is administered to stop your heart from beating too rapidly or out of rhythm. It is also a local anesthetic. Don't assume because it has "caine" in it's name it is a derivative of cocaine because it really isn't - kind of like assuming a cat and caterpillar are related.

Well here we go everyone is telling you NO like you are an idiot for thinking so, i hate to say it but ABSOLUTELY YES you can get a false positive, i am on an outpatient program that used to do weekly urines, now i get monthly....so i dont care what they tell u i will show u in black and white if i have too that it can happen. My drug of choice was heroin. never messed with uppers so obviously not a fan of cocaine. In fact i never touched any other drug....1st time i got a FALSE POSITIVE was when i had dental work done and was injected in my gums with lidocaine, 3 days prior to the test. I was so pissed because i knew i didnt do it, but at the same time i didnt connect the 2 until my counselor mentioned it. 2nd time it happened i came up POSITIVE was when my back went out and i was given lidocaine patches to put on my skin...a lot of people will tell u things like poppy seed bagels isnt enough to give u a positive for opiates and the lidocaine and the fentanyl bla bla bla BUT IT DOES HAPPEN!!!! IT HAPPENED TO ME 2Xs

i dont think so, lidocaine is only related to cocaine by the NAME. but the fact that they are both -aine is because they are both anesthetics but they have completely different chemical compositions and different metabolites with cocanies' being ecognine and lidocaine being something else, however it is possible the two have some metabolites that are the same which would give a positive drug test.

i asked my dad and he is a lab tec does drug testing all day long and he said YES
