im not going through that and so i have no idea how that is like, but i can tell u this, the best think you can do is to make him go or you could try to encourage him any sport, specially swiming. if he doesnt like swiming, or might feel embarassed, i think wrestling is a great choice. im 20, and i used to wrestle and practices were soo hard that no matter what i ate or how much i ate, i will loos like 2 pounds a week, but im a personal trainer in a gym, and a gym could be a great idea if supervised, i kno hes not old enough, but i think you can get him in one you could say its a special case, but if you do get him in one, i cant stress to u how important if for him to be supervised because lifting is not a weight reduction excercise, but there is running squads and all, but he really needs someone to tell him what to do a this state. this is why i think a gym is great. you can grow to liking it a lot, to actually wanting to go every day, if u ask me i cant not go to a gym, i love it, and like me and everyone i kno of, at the beggining it is very har, but once you get to see some change you get more and more kind of addicted (in a good way) to it, and if he does, hes gonna end up loosing pounds and i asure u he is gonna like it.

That 170 pounds could be muscle. If the doctors say he is fine, then why are worrying about it? He sounds tall. Try regulating his diet and instead of eating 3 main meals make him eat 3 main meals and 3 snacks (crackers, apple, any kind of fruit) but make sure they are small and have all the nutrients that he needs. Make him take vitamins as well. Take out ALL junk food, chips, fast food, cokes, etc. Make him eat lots of verggies and fruits. Balance in his diet is VERY important also how often is he active and for how long??? Hope I have helped.

Well I don't have any kids, but I kno someone with the same situation. Try enrolling him in some kind of sport (track/field, soccer, football, tennis, baseball). Additionally, if he doesn't have any already, get him some friends. That way, they can do some sports together, AND you can have him run or bike there (depending on your neighborhood).

For a funny answer, send him to the Army. He'll be in shape in no time!

To date, it is a biological problem and cutting down food drastically will alter the child's behavior tremendously! Dr. Phil had some stuff on this problem and you might want to go to a search engine and find his website. That is where you need to go because most doctors are not educated enough to help with this problem. Its a serous problem that must be delt with a professional who knows this condition. Its a condition not just an overweight child, please remember to treat it as such. Good luck.

You aren't supposed to cut down on junk food. You are supposed to eliminate it completely. Don't buy it and don't go out to eat it. Does he have a bike? Sign him up for karate. Does he swim? Substitute carrot and celery sticks for other snacks. No chips or candy. It's not that hard if you are serious about helping him.

Treatment for Excessive Fat and Weight :-
PHYTOLACCA BERRY's Mother Tincture is perhaps the safest and sure fire way of loosing excessive fat around abdomen. With Phytolacca Berry once you loose the excessive fat and weight you don't get it back because you body takes care of itself after that and keeps you from gathering up excessive fat. It is prescribed after having a baby too, to get the tummy to loose its flab and to make it flatter and tighter. And after loosing weight with this you don't get flabby it tightens up the flab and skin along with helping your body to shed the excessive accumulation of fat around the girth
The dosage is 15 to 20 drops of the tincture in half a cup of hot water thrice a day half hour before or after meals.
Avoid Chocolates, Coffee, Mints, Red Meat and Carbonated and Alcoholic drinks while taking Homeopathic Medicines. You have to take it for at least 30 to 45 days after that you start to feel the results.
To the best of my knowledge its the safest and the most sure fire way of loosing fat and weight and keeping it of for keeps. Excellent remedy for Obese people who cant seem to shed weight despite trying.
Homeopathic Remedies can be found at all Major Herbal Stores or could be bought on line, In most of the world Homeopathic remedies are quite cheap and easy to find and they do not need a prescription.
Take care and God Bless !

Since you've looked at everything else...try re-evaluating the portion sizes of healthy foods. Too much good stuff can be bad too. Sounds like you are on the right track. It will take time, be patient...I'm sure that you will start seeing results.
