When a person takes laxatives and they arn't constipated, what happens? How long do they poop? Does it hurt them? How does that make them lose weight? Anything else you can tell me would be great.

Just because laxatives are available without a prescription doesn't mean that they're without risk. Laxative use can be dangerous if constipation is caused by a serious condition such as appendicitis or a bowel obstruction. If you frequently use certain laxatives over a period of weeks or months, they can decrease your colon's natural ability to contract and actually worsen constipation. In severe cases, overuse of laxatives can damage nerves, muscles and tissues of the large intestine. The diagnostic testing to see if this is happening is a procedure called a colonoscopy, where the insert a tube about 9 feet long into the rectum that has a camera at the end of it to view and allow the doctor see the damage the laxatives have caused. Not a fun procedure just for the sake of loosing weight.

Do NOT take laxatives as a mean to lose weight. The only weight you would lose would be water weight, meaning that you would be soooo dehydrated. If you take laxatives and don't need to, you will probably spend the next few days sitting on the toilet wanting to die. Plus its really bad for you and you could die.

Taking laxatives to lose weight is crazy. Obviously it can hurt you if you're taking any type of medication that isn't necessary for you to have.
People take laxatives to lose weight because just like when bulimics make themselves throw up, you are getting rid of all of the food you consumed.

Taking laxatives when you do not need them is a form of bulimia, and you should be treated for this eating disorder. Taking laxatives too often when you do not need them can cause your body to become dependent upon the chemicals to have proper bowel movements. Which means that you can't go without them. You should talk to someone that cares about you and your questions and allow someone to help you be more accepting of yourself and your self image.

It is not good if you take laxatives when not constipated, and it could hurt you if you do that constantly. If you are thinking of using that for weight loss, then don't do it. That is a very stupid thing to do.

Besides the good advice above, a body can lose control of the bowels by taking laxatives. The body gets so used to "poo ping" that when the person sneezes or coughs, he/she may "lose control".

Why do you ask this? Never the less, fine I'll tell you. This will get rid of most fluids in your body that are not essential, therefore you will loose weight. However, you'll be on the "Lou" a while, and then your stomach will hurt. Overall, stick to excersize for weight control.

You just basically lose water weight depending on how many pills you take. I have taken 6 and would have the runs all day long along with cramps. You are better off dieting and working out to lose weight.

Laxatives make food go thru you quicker. It is not a healthy way to lose weight.
