the set has only co-axial inputs, no a/v. i cannot afford a new tv as i am an aged pensioner. i was told by a store that i could get a box, and an RF converter, but it would not provide the quality needed. can you suggest a box that will do the job without too much loss of pic quality.

YES, YOU NEED A SET TOP BOX TO GET DIGITAL. BELOW IS A LINK TO A PICTURE OF THE BACK OF A DIGITAL CABLE BOX. YOU CAN SEE THAT THERE IS A CO-AXIAL OUTPUT.

The best picture you can get out of your TV is less than what a digital set top box delivers. If you want the best picture you need a better TV. If you had a rooftop antennae connected to your TV, the picture you will get is the best picture your TV will deliver. So, get regular cable or a better TV. Good luck!
