U both have to put 100% into it and if u really really want it to work u have to learn to talk things out, be there for each other, trust each other, give each other space and also respect each other. U have to know that when u two fight u have to makeup and say I love u ( and mean it) b 4 u say goodnight, u. U can't not have ill feelings towards each other over the smallest thing, u can't allow anyone outside u come between u and u have to always be happy to see each other.
Do little things for each other like ( leave each other notes that say( I love U, have a nice day, Hi cutie,) throw kisses to each other from across the room, call each other at work and say " I was thinking about u, or I just wanted to call to say " I love you", leave on each others voice mail I love u
Give each other pet names that ONLY u and he or she can call u, be in each others corner, don't allow another to speak ill about Ur mate. Have a date night, and every anniversary go to the place where u 1st met or fell in love. Just do wahtevr it takes to keep the fire burning.

Always be honest, but don't use honesty as a crutch to be hurtful or mean-spirited. Develop balance in knowing when to put your partner first and when to give your own needs priority. Make sure your voice is heard, but be sure to listen. Respect each other, and respect yourselves. Try to talk as often as you can. Try not to hold grudges or go to bed angry. Keep TV out of your bedroom...and keep other people out of your relationship. And even after all of this you're just getting started...but I think it's a good start. Good luck!

mountain blue hi!
What a loaded question! Very complex one......Be happy with yourself first off. Complete yourself and do what you want to do in life first, and find peace within yourself first....then all falls into place.....
Choosing the right companion and making sure you both have similar interests perhaps; and always respecting one another, listening carefully to one another's opinions.
I think that respect is foremost.
luv Ava
