Oh, lighten up, answerers, it's just a saying. We used to do a move on the uneven parallel bars in gym class in high school, called skinning the cat, and it had nothing to do with harming a little kitty. sheesh!!

It depends on the knife, how fat the cat is and whether it's dead or not ^.^ . Best way it to start from the back of the head, go down the spine and peel the skin down from the top.
If that doesn't work, plunge the body in hot water. Aparently this works when skinning ducks.
