I found it very odd, that only 1 true atheist mother answered my poll. Sure maybe a few are putting the kids down for the night, but still why do you think the number is so low? In my personal life, I never believed in God more than after giving birth to a beautiful perfect baby. Maybe until you experience the miracle of birth you just can't be sure.

I think your right.

I have never had a child yet, but, that is what a miracle is. To give life to something so innocent and delicate- and it being completely dependent and trusting of you.

You could never look at a babys eyes and think there is no God- I just couldnt imagine that!

Thanks for the thought- that really is interesting! I think you hit it right on the nail!!!

A newborn litter of puppies is awfully cute and cuddly too. Birth happens to all speces. It's not necessarly an especially miraculous event. At least not to the extent that a person would look at BS and say it's true.

And, how big was your poll? Was it taken on a religious site? Was it stilted in some other way? Who did you query? Preacher's wives? Or, did your information come out of that 2,000 year old Bible? If one Atheist Mother answered your poll and that one answer represented 1%, that means that the size of your poll was 100. What kind of poll was that? I suggest it wasn't a large enough poll to even mention.

How many people answered that question doesn't indicate anything. First, most likely it could be that a very small number of atheist mothers spend much time in the yahoo answers religion section at any time. Or perhaphs that there aren't many at the time you asked the question as you pointed out. My sister has four children and she is an atheist. She is a great mom and loves her kids but having them didn't change her beliefs. She is so busy with them she doesn't spend much time surfing the net.

Perhaps...

1. The atheist moms here didn't see the point in answering your question, sensing that it would be for some ulterior motive... which, in the light of this question, it was.

2. Yahoo Answers is not representative of the atheist population, or any other population save Answerholics.

3. Your poll, your logic, and your tactics leave a WHOLE lot to be desired.

Perhaps they just did not wish to your question. Even though I am a Wiccan I don't always answer all Pagan or Wiccan questions I see posted.

Another thing, how can you really have a scientific poll on a board where you know that the majority of people think just like yourself? That skews the results and gives you a high margin of error.

you truly believe that fathers don't share the same love for a child? you probably don't, that would mean also only 1% of the fathers are atheist?

i just had my mom on the phone, did my own little poll. Funny thing: 100% of the moms on my poll was atheist...

I hate to break it to you, but the birth of a child is just another example of the beauties of nature. Nothing more. If that's what you base your faith on, you are pretty weak.

Nonsense. Why would an atheist mother be on your poll.

I guess belief had nothing to do with it. And your logical arguments are "just chasing the wind".

I used to believe in god until his sales agents thought they should get more money from me when my business became incrediblly successful. No. there was no help from "god" to build my business. In fact, I was critized by church leaders for devoting so much time to building the business. If they believe in hell, they are well on their way.

i wonder how valid your methods for conducting this poll were.

as an aside, from your comment, are you saying that men cannot have a sure knowledge of the existence or nonexistence of God because they do not bear children?
