Depends on the illusion. Sometimes, it's a trick of light while using mirrors. Sometimes, it is a trap door to a concealed compartment.

magician,comes from magi. It is of magic. it means it's not real. It's a illusion. So all that happens is an optical illusion. The question is not where did they go, but rather why did the magician use your senses against your brain.

Actually I think they move in to the house next door with all their family's and friends and pets and cars. They park in my driveway, throw their beer cans in my yard and party till the sun comes up! Before they go back they come over and apologize for the noise and ask me to return the keg! And tell me I can keep the beer cans for any inconvenience they may have inflicted on me! I am getting really tired of magic shows! Sigh!
