Use dental wax on the braces in the area that is rubbing on your gums and mouth lining causing the irritation. you can try ambesol or oragel for the pain until the cankersores go away, also warm salt water helps get rid of canker sores. If that doesnt help get into the orthodontist and let them know whats going on , your braces may need to be adjusted. Plus they can provide you with the wax you need if you cant find it at walmart or the drug store.

I'm right there with ya hun! I get canker sores in my mouth occasionaly. You can get wax to put on the part of your braces that is rubbing on the inside of your mouth. You can also rinse your mouth out with hot water and salt. If nothing else you can buy a "nummer". It's an ointment you put on your canker sores to numb them. Then the canker sores won't hurt you, but it's temporary, just keep putting it on to realive the pain. Hope this advice works!!

I had braces for 4 years and I used wax. I fine that it always worked if you wax right when you feel it starting. I have had my braces off now for 2 and a half years and just got them put back on about 2 weeks ago. I have only had to use the wax this time only twice. You will eventually get used to it. Good Luck!!

Talk to your ortho. All three of my kids got a tube of Kenalog in Orabase ointment to heal up their canker sores more quickly and he was the one who gave them the prescription for it. Also- be sure your ortho gives you wax and put it on the places that the braces are rubbing on- works everytime!!!

I recommend using things made for numbing mouth sores out, I personally use Anbesol, Anbesol Gel, Orajel, and some other one I can't remember, check your local pharmacy's, the prices might seem a little steep (7-8 bucks for a small vial of Anbesol) but the pain relief is well worth it.
