I was just reading a post where someone refered to Jesus' conception as the Immaculate Conception. When did people get so confused and not realize that this has nothing to do with Jesus' conception? It is about MARY.....

For clarification: The question is WHY or WHEN was it that people became confused.

The Immaculate Conception is about MARY's conception----NOT about Jesus'.

THANK YOU!!! It amazes me how many people don't know this. One of my professors joked that thinking the Immacualte Conception was the conception of Jesus should be named the Immaculate MISconception.....oh yes very funny.

You are right. Mary is the Immaculate Conception. Jesus Is the Virginal Conception.

The Immaculate Conception means that although Mary was conceived naturally, she was conceived without the stain of original sin.

Really. You mean Mary the mother of Jesus?

It has everything to do with Jesus having an earthly mother with sin. And if Mary wasn't the mother of Jesus, you would need Mary's Immaculate conception.

But thank you for pointing out the obvious.

Not really a question, but you're right...the Immaculate Conception is Catholic dogma that asserts that Mary was without sin from the time of her conception - that God filled her with grace and spared her from the stain of original sin.

Because jesus was the baby from Mary that was concieved with no earthly father. That's why it's called immaculate.

I KNOW!!!
Immaculate conception is Mary being conceived without sin.
Virgin birth is Jesus being born of a virgin.
I've heard so many people screw this up it drives me batty.

Ha Ha Mary was so sinless they had to go to the Temple and buy two turtle doves to cover her sins.

That stuff is just more Jube Jube made up by the Vatican.

She also went directly to heaven without dieing. BODILY! Sure.

And she is also a Co- redeemer--- just as good as JESUS --sure.

"The Immaculate Conception" was just another event the Christians stole from other religions.

Well...Jesus is the one who was conceived, so in essence it was His conception. It was Mary's impregnation.

You are right, Jesus should be the conceptus. Maybe they are thinking of Arnold Schwarzenegger's movie where man can get pregnant too.
