I believe you can only make this choice if you are at the age of majority. In my state (Florida) you have an option to have a mark put on the driver's license to identify that the person is an organ dornor. I have it on mine.

You can choose what organ you want to dornate, or your whole body, or you can choose what part you DON'T want to dornate.

You can also put it in your will but it has to be written the legal way. You can either use a form available from many places or ask your lawyer.

Again, you must be an adult to do this.

when you go to the place where you get your driver's license...tell them that if you die in a car accident, you can donate your body organs or body parts to people who have a bad heart or bad kidneys or to a school where they can use your body as lab work. Just tell them that you want to be an organ donor thats how it works in my state(FLORIDA). then when you get your license, it should say RIGHT below your picture that you are an 'organ donor' . i'm not gonna be an organ donor though!! but i hope i gave you good info!

-peace ;-)

That can work, just telling your family, but if your dedicated to it you can do more. The first thing i'd do is register with the dmv. If you have a lisence, contact your local dmv and see how you go about adding that. Also creating an advanced directive will help. All that basically is, is your wishes should you end up in a coma or something.

I think if you check the back of your drivers license you can check mark that you want to be an organ donor.

When you take or renew your driver's license. You can say that you are a donor and then that's it.

but it's always good to tell your family too.

You can sign up when you renew your driver's license in most states. You can also go to the American Red Cross site and get info as well.

You can do a search for a site on the internet to print out and sign a paper to keep in your wallet and/or give to your family.
