Do you think it was your parents or your parents parents, or your parents parents parents that invented S'Mores? I think they were created as a joke. You take three ingredients, one extremely brittle (graham crackers), one hard as rock, which you have to melt (chocolate), and one that is already soft and sticky (marshmallows). Somehow, with the help of a heat source, you must combine these three ingredients, noteably in there smore form the most challenging thing to do because the chocolate has to melt, but you cannot put it in the fire. So you hope the heat from the mallow will melt the chocolate, but not so. The graham cracker breaks, and the hot sugary mallow and melted chocolate coat your fingers and clothing sometimes. Then to add to the joke you are supposed to prepare these outside, at like the beach, or camping. So then you don't have adequate hand washing facilities, so you end up covered in sticky food, with dirt stuck in it. And they don't taste that great?

I cheat and make mine in the oven. Also there is a great recipe for smores bars that have chocolate chips, mini marshmallows, and Golden Grahams cereal along with some butter and corn syrup. They are so good. To make smores in the oven. Place down 12 graham cracker squares and top 6 of them with pieces of chocolate and then 2 marshmallows. Cook them at 350 for about 5-10 minutes until the marshmallows start to brown. The chocolate will be nice and melted. Top with the other heated graham crackers and enjoy. You can use a fork to keep from getting so messy.

HAHA I was thinking about that this weekend up at the cottage. Next time I'll try replacing the chocolate bar with warmed up chocolate *pudding*...to waiting for it to melt or breaking the graham cracker trying.

Sounds good? S'mores, 21st century style!

I think S'mores are fun. Its a traditional thing. Watching the marshmellows catch on fire, having the chocolate melt on clothing, biting down and finding you've just bit into a big bug. OH the memories.... hehe..

maybe you've got a problem. smores arent that hard to make when you've got a microwave. u just got the wrong idea on HOW to make it. heres how: u take a grahm cracker put hard chocolate pieces and couple marshmellows. squish it together with another grahm cracker on top then u stick the WHOLE thing in the microwave, wait some seconds, and eat it.

... why don't you just use chocolate covered grahm crackers? because the chocolate on the inside next to the marshmallow melts and the stuff on the outside re-enforces the grahm cracker... your hands still get messy but not that much... and if you can't wash your hands why not pack pre-moistened towlettes with your s'more making supplies

personally i don't have any of these problems... i just light the marshmallow on fire to watch it burn

I think a kid made it. An easier way to make s'mores is to take a casserole dish and line it with graham crackers. then add chocolate pudding and top with marshmellow cream. i have some in my fridge now and it is yummy
