My boyfriend lets his son watch (american pie "band camp") and such movies when he is so young. I really believe that teaches him that it's "cool" to cuss all the time and it bothered me so bad that I couldn't even watch the beginning of the movie with his son in the room. He doesn't see anything wrong with it. But I don't think that is something a father should be teaching his son. OR lack of! Tell me that someone agrees with me. I am a mother and would NEVER let my daughter or son watch a movie with such trashy nudity and cussing in it. However of course it's funny to me but I'm an adult. I just don't see that as good parenting.

This is disgusting behavior. The father is too lazy to set a proper example for his own child. Indeed by watching and enjoying this type of movie, he is telling his child it's good to talk and act the same way as the movie. I'm sick of parents who have children and do not understand the responsiblity of raising the child. The parent(s) is(are) the primary teacher--not school, not church, not society. A child looks to the parent for limits, standards, guidance---not the chaos that is created without these elements in their daily life. It breaks my heart to see so many lost children and ignorant parents...our country is full of them.

Personally I agree with you.
Unfortunately, you can't tell a person that he doesn't have that right. Isn't that what the big issue is with the religious groups trying to censor tv shows, or closing down porn shops or whatever? If people don't like looking or watching that kind of stuff, then don't, it's that simple. We don't need someone else telling us what we can or can't watch. But, the same rights apply to the people that don't think there is anything wrong with letting their kids watch R rated shows.
You can tell him you don't think it is proper, but you can't go much past that...ultimately it is his decision, as long as it isn't involve anything illegal for a minor to watch.

My mother over edited my television when I was a child. I wasn't allowed to watch anything with a rating about 'G' until I was fifteen, and that made me oversensitive. However, I don't think you should let a nine year old be watching things like that. If I was ever a mother, I would definitely screen what my child was watching and at least attempt to make it age appropriate.

I worked at a school with children that age for the past schoolyear and let me say..its actually quite common. They are teaching sex education in 4th grade now in alot of schools. In reality children know alot about sex and things like that by the age of 9..as far as movies go..it would be better if he is letting the child watch things like that too also let the child know what is and isn't normal behavior.

Of couse you are right... no responsible parent would let his child watch a movie like that...they probably didn't even understand why it was funny...and he won't think it's so funny when his son gets sent home from school for cussing.

yes this is really wrong if he teaches this to his son now he is going to get into sex and stuff when he's young and if that happens he could leave off to a bad life and all that swearing is bad too if he's going to learn all that kind of stuff at a young age and his dad is letting him he's going to think all that stuff is ok so no that is not good to be letting your son do that stuff

I agree with you. Kids are going to be exposed to stuff like this all the time, but it shouldn't be at home with a parent. Kids are growing up so fast these days, I want mine to be young and innocent for as long as I can keep them that way.
