Good question. Unfortunately, you have cited a number of things that are true. People just don't care. They rely on others to participate and to elect our officials. If people became more involved - it would make a difference. Unfortunately, more people are interested in who is winning American Idol that who is their governor or Congressman.

If you are a American citizen it is your duty to vote. If you do not exercise your right to vote, you give up your rights to complain about what is going on in America until time to vote again. I vote because I want the best for America. Even if it is someone that gets in that I don't particularly like, I have the right to complain then. No one will like everyone, but I want the best for America if possible. I wonder how many people would go vote if they gave out free cash? Someone would say it's not enough. The country is in the shape it is because the only ones getting in is the ones that are already rich.

that is possibly a similar variety of folk vote casting for American Idol that vote for president, yet human beings can vote distinctive circumstances for American Idol and not in any respect for president. we ought to definetely not decrease the age reduce for vote casting. a variety of of the those that are previous adequate to vote are grossly uninformed about the politicians and the subjects, and it may in ordinary words worsen with the more youthful ones because they could likely merely say, "properly my dad and mom are vote casting for candidate A, so i am going to too," or they are going to do the different, even though it has no relating WHY they are vote casting that way. it will be a lot less demanding if lets telephone in for the president, yet there may opt to be a variety of of techniques of verifying you're who you're, you at the instant are not committing voter fraud, and so on. the destiny is generally extra alongside the strains that anybody could have a secure account with the IRS which will connect to their county branch that controls the voter registration and they could vote by ability of that information superhighway web site.

Americans don't care about their rights until they are taken away. Proof - more people watch American idol than voted in the last election. To all the people who don't vote but want to complain about the government, shut up you don't have a right to complain if you don't do anything about it.

Well maybe the US should not have election day in the middle of the work week. Maybe there should be some candidates worth voting for. Maybe some people excercise their right not to vote at all.

In Australia voting is compusory and we get fined if we do not vote. This method attempts to obtain a realistic vote, but some people do put in "donkey votes". That is they write comments on the voting forms instead of doing it correctly, but I think it is a fairer system. I don't fully understand your college voting system. Perhaps you should lobby for a compusory system to replace it.

We need to restore faith to the system. Who can blame a person for not voting if they honestly believe both parties are corrupt? I am waiting for the time a presidential candidate does not have to be corrupt just to gotten have there.
