When you get lab results back, platelet counts come up without the 1000's after them. Let's get a few things straight here as 90% of the people answering this question have no f'ing idea what they're talking about.

1) Platelets are just that... platelets NOT white blood cells, that's a whole different thing. Platelets are the fine particles dispersed in our blood to help it clot.

2) Yes, a normal platelet count is 150,000 to 400,000. Your results of 408 mean 408,000.

3) 408,000 is slightly higher than "normal" but just so slightly, it's no real reason for concern, perhaps you are slightly dehydrated.

In conclusion, 408 is an OK platelet count.
Don't worry about it.

means you are in great health and got plenty of them

Platelet count. The number of platelets in a volume blood. Platelets are not complete cells, but actually fragments of cytoplasm from a cell found in the bone marrow called a megakaryocyte. Platelets play a vital role in blood clotting. Normal range varies slightly between laboratories but is in the range of 150,000 - 400,000/ cmm (150 - 400 x 109/liter).

It means that you have 408 white blood cells.150,000-450,000 is normal, and under 50,000 puts you at risk for severe bleeding. So it is not possible to only have 408 of them.
