Which do you prefer? Both were very talented but I have to go with my girl Frida.

Frida, of course... She was not afraid of life. She lived it to its plenitude and it shows in her paintings. Also her work is of a brave sort... She showed us her real self, what was going on in her soul. She completely opened up to the world.

By the way, she was no product of any man! She had er own style and individuality... Not to mention that she was the most respected female artist - surrealist or other - of her time!!!

Well, you already answer your own question in expressing your preference for Frida.

And I'd have to agree with you and the respondants thus far. I mean, both women had their repetitive themes (maybe Frida did as many self-portraits as Georgia painted cow skulls), but Frida had more depth, came from a perspective of pain, love, loss and could visually articulate it in haunting ways.

Georgia O'Keefe painted iconic paintings, but Frida Kahlo became an icon onto herself. Both her and her paintings could be beautiful, agressive, sexy, obssessive, provocative, vulnerable, surrealistic and uber-feminist all at the same time or (in the case of her last painting of watermelons), none of the above but still enigmatic.

Frida Khalo... Her paintings held so much more passion than Georgia's stuff. I have no idea why... but I just like her stuff better.

I would also say Frida. She was a great artist. Her paintings were her way to show how she sees the world.

Frida Kahlo painted direct from her own experience and life. She painted her own world and developed her own visual language. Frida was not intimidated by her hubby Diego Rivera. Her paintings reflected her own sufferings and traumas.

Frida, she was way comfortable with the erotic. Georgia was obsessed with it but very repressed.
