ok so about periods... there are 2 theories i've heard from us muslim girls.
1) you should start praying 7 days after it started, even if it goes on longer
2)don't pray untill there is NO more blood at all.
so, people that believe in theory #1 (my mom does, so don't worry and i don't mean to be rude)... how come when it's the first 7 days we're considered to unclean to approach God in our required prayer, but (in cases of irregular cycles) after the 7th day we are?
please help (only real answers please). im confused?

Hi Some1

Actually, this is a hard question. Because, it depends on if you're Hanafi, or Shafii or one from other 2. So I suggest you to look at more websites(like in the link).

Anyway, if you see irregular cycles, and if it's not longer than 10 days, you have to wait until it'll end. But, if it'll continue after 10 days, you have to pray as if you're clean. Because, you're considered clean... It's not called "period" in Fiqh.

In Shafii, it's 15 days...

I am not muslim but from the way it sound I would pray after you get your period so that you may be cleansed and able to worship god in a cleanesd state. if you pray 7days in advance you will not be lean after it is over and that is a longer period of time than seven days or you could pray at both times!
I am not sure if that helped or not but that is how I see it. And I have always been told that prayer is always heard no matter where or when so I am sure that if you mean what you are praying then your prayer will be answered.

ok seriously, listen to yourself! " how come when it's the first 7 days we're considered to unclean to approach god in our required prayer"

If you have REQUIRED prayer then how can you be considered too 'unclean' to participate?

im not muslim, but i am a girl. A christian girl.

god says that you should always pray, regardless of your period.

sorry im not much of a help but i had to say something.

first of all sorry for answering this question because i am not a girl but i am muslim and to best of my knowledge you have to wait until your period stops to start praying again after making ghusl of course.and you may not make up the prayers you missed during your period.
I am sorry for answering this question again but i couldn't leave it unanswered with all the unrelated answers you got.
hope i can be of help and i suggest you do some more research about it.

I AM A MUSLIM GIRL AND SINCE YOU HAVE TO STAY PURE AND CLEAN WHEN YOU PRAY, YOU SHOULD START PRAYING RIGHT AFTER YOUR PERIOD ENDS. MY MOM SAYS IT'S OK A COUPLE OF DAYS AFTER YOUR PERIOD ONLY IF I TAKE A LONG SHOWER. IT'S DIFFERENT FOR EVERYONE.

I am not Muslim, but believe it or not, Jewish women had to do the same thing. They were considered unclean. Prayer is good anytime. Good luck!
