If someone owns a lot of dogs, that's okay, but a person with a lot of cats is considered a kook. Why is that?

its mostly because people who have a ton of cats don't take care of them properly. not all owners of multiple cats are like that. i know a lady who has 14 cats but she also has a huge house and takes care of them properly (you couldn't tell she had cats unless you saw one of them her house didn't stink) and then again I knew a lady who had 12 cats and stunk like hell all the time and her cats where malnourished. most people tend to think alot of cats means kooky people because its alot of upkeep.

They simply are not cat lovers, but, thats ok, I have 4 indoor cats, who are the most sweetest & affectionate animals on this planet!!
So let them think youre a kook, who cares! At least we are happy kooks, who have given our kitties a good home!

Either way, I think it is eccentric behavior and most always not in the best interest of the pets. I base this answer on "alot" being used in your questions, as meaning like the hoarders you read about or see via the media?
Other than that, perhaps it's still a stereotypical belief from waaaay back......witches, mother earth types, etc., always seemed to have alot of felines surrounding them as opposed to dogs. But, heh, you like cats, that's your business.....you get the best end of the deal with their company and love....try to look at it that way!

Personally, it is not okay to own too many animals of any type. I think the thing with the cats is that lonely people tend to own them and talk to them so they are looked at as kooky.

dont pay attention to that. Its so unfair its just like going to a pets store i usually find that theres more dog stuff then cat stuff. I think its not right. Its like dogs are more favorable so its k for them but not for cats. I think there should be just as much favor for cats. Its like being racist. You like one color more than the other.

I love cats. cats help people relieve stress. I like dogs too but cats are my favorite pet.

Probably because of they way they act around cats.
I love cats.
I take care of friends cats when she is out of town.
blah blah balh where is your sister?balh blah blah would you like some more stars?blah blah blah.
just like they are little people.
I never talked to dogs as much as I do cats.
Cats are good company.
