When I have my mouth open, it means I'm trying to concentrate on something. Like when I modeled, I had to train myself to keep my mouth closed because it automatically opened when I was solely concentrating on modeling. Same deal with mascara, you're trying to get it right, without blotches or smears or anything. You're solely concentrating on putting mascara on. And yeah, it probably has to do something with the facial muscles too.

Oh, we can do it, luv, but it takes some concentration. It's not unlike trying to pat your head and rub your belly at the same time - something about opening your eyes up for the mascara wand makes the mouth want to open, too.

Well for me when I put on mascara, I open my mouth because then it's easier for me to open my eyes better so mascara wont get on my eyelid which sucks to get off.

Wow -- never thought about it, but you're right! Great question! I guess because when we put mascara on, we usually have to open our eyes wide to get it on just right....and, well, then we open our mouths because....oh hell, what a good question....!

It's something to do with the way the facial muscles are connected, it is easier to keep your eyelids still with your mouth open...I must be the only girl out there who doesn't do this.

i dont open my mouth but for some reason i stretch my eyes open really wide until it hurts.also women usually learn from other women how to apply makeup by watching them and i think maybe its a learned behavior

i dont understand the answer yet the different day i realized that i DONT open my mouth after I placed on mascara (or eyeliner for that count number) and that i dont understand why i dont cuz all and diverse else does... weeeeeeeeird!

the same reason when you feed a baby with a spoon your mouth opens too
