Well, back in the day, older women kept their hair long; it is much less common now, mostly for upkeep purposes. Older women may not have the strength, the necessary range of motion, or other physical limitations to properly do longer hair for themselves. Therefore, it's easier for them to style it if they keep it shorter.

Some older ladies do, mostly because of religion, pentecost for example see long hair as their virtue. Other older ladies prefer shorter hair because it is easier to take care of, go to the beauty shop once a week and are good to go.

Some old ladies do have long hair. But sometimes, when your older, you get tired of having to deal with washing and fixing long hair. So they just cut it to make it less of a hassel.

I've actually seen old ladies with long hair but they put it up in a bun. Long white hair to me looks like a witches hair. When I grow old, if I'm fortunate enought to still have enough hair, I'm cutting it short but cute. Like this:

many old ladies do have long hair, its just not that common a lot of the time. sometimes, they think that their hair just gets in the way so they keep it short, and some of them just loose their hair.

Long hair is high maintenance. Old ladies don't have the energy to take care of it.

Long hair tends to be a "young look," meaning that it is usually worn by younger women. Many older people feel as if they have outgrown long hair.

Also, the texture of hair changes as you age; long hairstyles simply do not lend themselves to people with brittle or thinning hair.

u can't say old ladies NEVER have long hair because it isn't true, depending on the culture you're looking at ... in Europe, older women usually have fairly long hair but they keep it up, unless they're mourning ( they leave it up then too; it depends on the culture) ... older women in Africa, though, tend to have short hair ... in the USA, older women usually have their hair fairly short because it's easier to manage and maintain in good condition (on average, older people have just enough money to get by with the necessities, so it's one way to save on shampoo ...jk ... it still matters though :-) )
it all depends on where u are and the customs/cultures involved

Because it's unflatering on old woman. It doesn't look right with their wrinkles. Gray hair doesn't look right long. Also, a lot of older woman are tired and it takes alot of time and energy to deal with long hair.

Why do old men always have their pants really high? How many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie pop? The answer to all is the same...the world may never know!
