There are some wonderful American Sign Language videos out there. I got them from my local library to help me learn to talk with a deaf co-worker.
They were great. We were communicating in no time at all.

I also see adult classes offered at my local high school at night for a small fee ( $45 ? I think )

I learned sign language from a book, i don't know any free programs anywhere that teach it...check amazon.com

Sometimes community colleges will allow you to take one night class per semester for free. Check into it.
