Vertigo can be caused by getting up too fast. This type is called orthostatic hyportension and is quickly alleviated by standing up more slowly. It happens when the person stands so quickly that the blood volume has not had time to reach the brain in sufficient quantities to maintain consciousness. True Vertigo has many causes, but the one with which I am most familiar is Meniéré's Disease. This is a condition where the small rocks in the vestibular organ (inner ear) do not operate correctly and the person suffers positional vertigo. In this, it is possible to not be able to stand, causes nausea, and if the person can walk, she can walk into a wall. It is advised that these persons need bed rest until the condition subsides. It may take a couple of days up to a week. Many times a drug called Meclazine is given. It alleviates the symptoms for an hour, but then causes extreme drowsiness until time for the next dose. The attacks come and go and generally subside over time. She should be thoroughly evaluated by an Ear, Nose and Throat doctor who can run test to learn the cause of her vertigo.

I had vertigo at least three times in my life. For me, vertigo comes on as a result of a combination of a mild sinus infection, stress, and anxiety. The emergency room doctor treated me with valium after examining my ear and nose and not seeing anything. However, always have a ear, nose, and throat specialist look you over. The doctor also prescribed an anti-nauseant, but I can't recall the name of the medication. Since I've eliminated the stress, I have ceased to have vertigo.

Vertigo is a type of dizziness that's characterized by the sensation of spinning. It's sometimes referred to as a hallucination of motion. Imagine what it would feel like to be placed suddenly on a roller coaster that won't stop, and you begin to understand the alarming symptom of vertigo.

A fairly common cause of vertigo is labyrinthitis
your inner ear sending random signals to the brain.
this can be caused by an ear infection
or changes in altitude as in flying in a plane or driving up into a mountain area
or even air pressure -diving to the deepest part of the pool and your ears get plugged up.

Nothing to worry about. She will probably be over it by time she comes home. Sometimes it will reoccur. Vertigo just means she is dizzy and can become unbalanced easily. She probably shouldn't drive or anything like that when she is having an episode. It is not life threatening in any way unless she did try something dumb. I have had it so bad I could not walk (worse than being drunk).

My grandmother had vertigo. Its a condition that causes nausea, dizziness, sometimes vomitting and severe motion sickness. I believe it is cause by an imbalancing of fluids in the inner ear called the equilibrium. Its not life threating it just means that she should avoid or use caution with boats and rollercoasters. It can however hit suddenly and she may feel very sick. For more info visit www.webmd.com and look under diseases and conditions. She is fine don't worry its not contagious.

You don't catch vertigo from another person. It is not a sexually transmitted disease. Vertigo is a vestibular problem with balance and dizziness. If you have it, tell your parents and ask to see the family doctor.

Vertigo is a feeling that you or your surroundings are moving when there is no actual movement. You may feel as though you are spinning, whirling, falling, or tilting. When you have severe vertigo, you may feel very nauseated or vomit. You may have trouble walking or standing, and you may lose your balance and fall.

vertigo is a severe form of motion sickness.

I had to see my physician for something prescribed to overcome it. Any fast movement can trigger it and it is no fun feeling.
