They both claim to posess knowledge and other special qualities that make them better than everyone else. That tends to be doubly true to all that oppose them. Christians think that Wiccans are dumb animals on their way to the slaughter that need to be prayed for and Wiccans think that Christians are the root of all evil. They both apparently feel that they cannot be corrected. Apparently they know everything and anyone that says anything to the contrary of what they believe is stupid and needs to do more research. They both comment on tough questions with verbal copouts like "I'll pray for you, son" or "You watch too much Harry Potter" or "Jesus loves you no matter what" or you shouldn't criticize what you don't understand". Their behavior leads me to believe that they wish to win every argument by overpowering their opponent with ignorance. I feel that this is a special breed of Troll. They treat their religion like a club, greasyness ilke a cloak, and their ignorance like a helmet.

Do you suppose that this is possibly what is happening? Obviously not all of them. Just the more beligerant ones..... the ones that appear to have something to prove.

You can say what you want to about me, but when my logic is questioned, I don't squirt out a thick nasty cloud of ink and run like Hell.

Unfortunately, I think you may be right. Too many people come into Yahoo as if they are looking for a fight. I haven't noticed too many Wiccans in this category. It seems mostly to be between "Christians" and "Atheists".
I can't help but wonder why? Did I miss something here? Are we being graded on our questions and answers or something?
What's the deal??

Perhaps there are a few who hide behind the vail of another to either ask a question seeking a true answer or to position themselves to promote prejudice and hate.
However, most are confused and misguided in their knowledge of the truths within the faiths they so loudly proclaim allience to. This is due to their teachers being flawed in their own educations, and the student being far too quick to teach.
There is but one Creator and that One, is Holy. (Male or Female, which ever the Great Spirit of Life and Love may be.) All other entities, both seen and unseen are in fact, servants of this Most Holy One. Only Humanity, has the freewill to nit-pick this truth ... and often does to an individual's spiritual ruin.
Humanity was created to be a diversity. Within this diversity, we are to seek out balance and harmony among one another. No one is any better than the other, only different in some small way. It is our ideologies that separate "people" to the point of conflict.
Saying, "I am right, you are wrong." is the perverbial game of Cowboys and Indians. The Cowboys always win and the Indians always lose. The Creator of ALL see's the conflict, and for that conflict, many will parish. How stupid for so many to think about the beauty of Eternal Life, when only a few have promoted balance and harmony in this life! Nor do many see the beauty created here on earth ... so too will they be blind in death.
To the Creator, there are no "weeds." Only seeds that either prosper or those that fall to the ground who bare no fruit. Your freewill gives YOU the chioce.
Each person has been given a gift. That gift is their life. How one chooses to spend their lifetime, is their decision. No one has the right to trip another ... follow the path you're on and respect the path of the others. Those who entertain themselves by judgeing the gifts of another to the Creator, would do better to judge themselves first and hold their hand over their mouth until they themselves are perfect enough to know better than to judge at all.
Blessed, are the innocent.

I'm Wiccan, but I'm no better nor worse than anyone else. I don't care if people think I chose my faith to stand out as something special. Wicca is something special to me and that's what I care about. I don't have any problems with Christians or anyone of a different faith. In fact, there have been many times that I've sung with the folk group at a Catholic church because a dear friend of mine asked me to help out. I'm respectful and stand and sit when everyone else does. I keep silent when others are praying or reciting the usual responses. I stand out of the way when others go for communion. Everyone there understands my reasons and respects me for that. Having been Wiccan for the past 13 years, I've gotten used to listening to the ignorant "Christians" who like to bash anything non-Christian. They can say what they want. I'm comfortable with myself and confident in my faith that I can let the comments roll off my back. At the same time, I never proclaim that my faith is the "one true religion." It's right for me, is all. All paths lead to God, including Wicca and Christianity.

Well, considering I'm Wiccan and have been for over 15 years, I find it irksome that some people want to use Wicca as an excuse to shock people. My religion is irrevevant to the fact that I'm a normal person. I work, go to college and do right by my family. The fact that I'm more educated than most christians in regards to their own religion is a fact that I find pitiable. There seems to be a great deal of insecurity with those us real Wiccans call 'fluffy bunnies', and with a substantial amout of christians.

I know, People have to be more open about religion. One can't claim that their religion is better than the others. All religions were originated for unifying people. Their teaching might be different from one another but people should know the true meaning of religion. Without that, however religious they claim they are, they might not be going anywhere in their lives or beliefs. Tolerance is the key to be a better person and make more out of your religion. Well, this is my opinion.

Nope, I don't think so at all. I think that the Christians that are on here are doing their best to fulfill the Great Commission which is to tell everyone of Jesus. A true Christian does not hide his light under a bushel, but puts it out there for all to see. Some will scorn him to the death. Others will have life changing experiences because of that light. It depends on the person.

Not sure where you are getting your "facts" but you are way off in your generalized statements of both christians and wiccans. A few detractors shouldn't be the platform in which you weigh in with your insults and slander. If your statements are based on your personal experiences then perhaps you should find a better class of friends or stop posing questions that are inflammatory, bigoted and without merit.

I dunno, since I don't really read what most people write unless I'm answering a question. But as a Christian, I don't presume to think that any knowledge I have makes me "special" or better than anyone else. As the Apostle Paul wrote to people like that in the Church of Corinth...
1 Corinthians 4:7 For who makes you to differ from another? And what do you have that you did not receive? And if you did receive it, why do you boast as if you had not received it?
Anyhow, I can't speak for anyone else, even if I did take the time to pour over all of the responses people give since I'm not God and I don't know what goes on in their hearts. All I can say is that what makes a true Christian "special" is the Spirit of Christ who dwells in us. And since we often don't submit to His leading in our lives, it's often times hard to see anything "special" about us at all.

Aren't you taking the dramatics of the extremists and generalizing it to the groups?
I'm a Wiccan and I've never felt any of that. A lot of my friends are Christian, and they're very kind people. I really don't think the extremists could really be called true and faithful followers of their religion, and in the end, they only make up a small percent of their group.

I dont think it is an attempt to be special. True Christians are proud of that and should be. It is the ones that claim they are Christians and then act like anything but that are "special" and not in a good way.
