That is correct, unless by error, some portion of their reproductive tract wasn't fully removed. If the girls are displaying signs of being in season or other odd behaviors, yet you believe them to be spayed, a visit to the vet is most defintely in order.

When a cat is spayed, the uterus and ovaries are removed. If part of the ovary is left in the cat, it is still possible for the cat to go into heat. The odds of having BOTH cats spayed and BOTH go into heat (at the same time, no less) due to remnants left in them would be astronomical. Go buy a lottery ticket. You sound lucky.
Or it could be something else, you know.

My daughter owns a cat who was spayed as a kitten, yet she still is quite accommodating to male cats and she exhibits all the typical antics of a female in heat. Had I not witnessed this personally, I wouldn't have believed a friend who also had an over-sexed spayed female! I've owned many cats over the years and none have been interested in the opposite sex after spaying. Always exceptions to the norm....

If the procedure was done correctly. I have seen a cat go into heat after being spayed and they had 2 operate on her again because it looked like she still had part of her ovary left in. I am not going 2 scare u but it does happen-----most likely they will be fine!!! Also good job in getting them fixed---Good owner!

No, since being fixed is the same thing as a hysterectomy. Only the uterus is removed. They would still go into heat, only without the ability to become pregnant. Maybe, I don't really know. Not an expert.

Right. If they are going into heat, you might want to check to make sure your vet spayed them correctly.

You are right... Fixing them should also prevent any spraying that is so typical of cats.... wanting to mark their territory.
Happy that you "fixed" your cats.. I wish more people did.
