I don't think the issue really has to do with tarot cards. I think for the first time in your life you're testing the waters on what it's like to think for yourself and make a decision for yourself, and you don't know what to do.
Basically, tarot cards are dumb.
Start thinking more for yourself, though, with intelligent, informed decisions.

I think it's more important what YOU think about being a Christian. If you REALLY ARE a Christian, THEN all you need to do is look at the Bible for your answer . . . and the Bible DOES say that Tarot reading is sinful (and as such should be avoided) . . . Leviticus 19:26 and Deuteronomy 18:10 are the most direct answers to this question, but there are numerous others that address the general idea . . . Tarot reading is basically divination, or depending on how you define Tarot reading and other things of the sort, it is still among the group in Deut 18:10. So what do you believe . . . ?

I personally don't think they're evil, but then again, I am Pagan - that in itself is evil, according to most Christians. I don't worship their Satan, even though they love to entertain the thought.
The big misconception about Tarot cards is that they're a fortunetelling tool. They don't tell the future. They give clarity and understanding towards a present situation through your sub-councious. Your sub-councious tells you what cards to pick and how to divide the deck, then you interpret the cards.
I do readings for my mother, whom is a Christian. She says that it's God's way of helping her. So, it all depends on who you ask. Some are more open minded than others.
As for your parents, I would be careful purchasing a Tarot deck if you're still living under their roof. I've seen what Bible-thumpers to do alternative practices. I would hate to see you buy something with your hard-earned money just to have your parents turn around and take it from you.
Good luck!

Tarot cards are not evil unless the person who is using them is evil. I wouldn't advise trying the cards until you are living on your own. I am a parent myself and even though I am open minded on such matters, if your parents say no, then wait. Time is something that you have. It sounds as if you are at a place in your life where you need to look inside yourself to see what is right for you.

I don't think that tarot cards are evil, but at the same time, if you are underage I think that you should respect your parents beliefs and wait to explore this until you are of age and probably no longer living with them.

There is nothing wrong with doing tarot card readings or being interested in them. However, since your parents are so against you using them, I suggest you wait until you're living somewhere else.

The only time a ghost is mentioned in the Bible, not the Holy Ghost but an actual deceased person appearing, is when a king, I think Solomon but it could have been Saul, went to a diviner to find out whether or not he would win a war. An old time prophet, long since dead, appeared and told him that because of that sin they would lose.
Generally any form of divination, fortune telling, etc is dangerous stuff to mess around with, and yes a sin.

I say if its something you want to try then do so. Tarot is not evil, nor does it come from evil. Did they call Jesus evil? He delivered the messages to the people. Cards are another form or tool to use to get message and information to people from angels guides and yes even god.. IT has never been evil.. Only evil people make things evil. And only people that need to control others would continue to think such closed minded things.

I guess they work if you believe in them, and if you believe they're evil, then they are. If your parents are really adamant about you staying away from them, it's best to respect their wishes... until you move out ;)
Lots of people today make this link: Anything that's kind of occult ((i.e. Tarot cards, astrology, hypnotism)) = witchcraft = evil. It's really offensive to Witches and untrue.

it is not wise for a christian to be involued in this.
What about those people who claim that they can talk to the dead ? can dead family members come back and talk to the living ? what does the bible say about that. In the old testament in Leviticus 19:31; 20:6 "'Do not turn to mediums or seek out spiritists, for you will be defiled by them. I am the LORD your God. 6 "'I will set my face against the person who turns to mediums and spiritists to prostitute himself by following them, and I will cut him off from his people. We see that is was not allowed. We can see in 1 Samuel 28:3-19. King Saul soughtout a medium to talk to the dead prophet Samuel. Now Samuel was a holy man who obeyed God 1) he would not talk to Saul through this woman. 2) he would have stopped king Saul from falling on his face in worship to him. the bible make it clear that the dead cannot help the living. Ecclesiastes 9:5 For the living know that they will die, but the dead know nothing; they have no further reward, and even the memory of them is forgotten. Jesus himself said that death is like a sleep, Luke 8:52 ...."Stop wailing," Jesus said. "She is not dead but asleep." The bible says their is a spirit world, and christians are forbidden to use mediums or try to contact it. These people who talk to the dead if they really are are talking to deamons. Revelation 21:8 But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars--their place will be in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death." Revelation 22:15 Outside are the dogs, those who practice magic arts, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idolaters and everyone who loves and practices falsehood. The Bible is clear that we are to avoid the world of darkness and all of its sorceries, incantations, mediums, fortune telling and demonic activities. See Exodus 22:18; Lev. 19:31; 20:6,27; Acts 8:9-24; 13:6-11; 19:19.
