My boyfriend is the pickiest eater ever! I love to cook, but can barely ever find anything to make that we both like....I feel like I've only been eating meat, cheese, and potatoes for the past 2 years, haha. Any body have some ideas?

It can't have:
Mayo
Onions
Broccoli
Spinach
Peppers
Olives
Mustard
Curry
Pickles
Sour Cream

well, it seems like your boyfriend would take to Chinese dishes well. How about trying some stir-fry?

Just choose veggies that he would eat--eg. carrots, string beans, baby corn and stir-fry small pieces of chicken. you can find some Asian sauces in your grocery store to stir-fry with. (soy, Hoisin etc.)

Also, you may try Indonesian/Thai recipes. Satay is great--the dipping sauce is peanut-based and mayo-free.

OMG. There is someone out ther as picky as my husband?

I disagree with the person who thinks it is about control. I am not a picky eater but there ae still things I will not eat. If you grew up in a home where there was little or no spicing to the food you never learned to have a taste for it.

What I did was gently introduce onions and spices into the meal, but so finely chopped he never knew. Now It's a few years later and he is soooo much better. Last week he actually complained because there wasn't enough onion in the meal.

I would start slow and gently and introduce new meals. Afterwards, if he says he didn't like something ask what it was he didn't like. then tone down that ingredient(s). I've also added new veggies to the mix ofen. He never knew it before but he loves asparagus and artichokes.

It's not easy, but it can get better if you keep at it. I find that I get very bored with cooking the same thing over and over again and I end up on strike with sanwiches and frozen veggies for dinner.

Good Luck!!

Are you madly in love with him? 'Cause this will only get worse if you marry him.

Being this picky is a control issue. It's not the food, the food is merely the method.

Cook what YOU like and let him pick out the onions and pickles, or make a PNB sandwich if he doesn't like what you made. Go ahead and use the mayo and sour cream in casseroles; tell him you made a "white sauce" instead. He won't know the difference unless you tell him or he watches you. Oh, and puree the onions, too.

If he doesn't like onions then you need to seriously reconsider your relationship!!! only kidding...sort of. My boyfriend has two kids that wont eat anything other that fatty takeaway or meat, so I hide stuff, and I find anything with mince meat is the perfect place. Especially burgers, just put veggies in your food processor along iwht the mince and whatever else you use to bind it (eggs breadcrumbs) maybe not the spinach, because you can't hide that, but definately onions, make sure it's well flavoured and he wont even know. Also you can tell him that it takes 10 times of trying something to decide whether or not he likes it, so shut-up and eat it!! If he's lucky enough to have a girlfriend who cooks for him, he should at least make an effort to enjoy what you cook, because you put in the effort to cook for him! Also go to dinner at other peoples places, and don't tell them what he doesn't like, if he's polite he'll have to eat it, and he may get used to things. Also look up websites that have vegetarian recipes on them, they'll often have recipes that replicate meat, so you could try one of them, like stuffed mushrooms or bell peppers, completely vegetarian but they taste like mince! Also, and I know this sounds wierd, but cook with lots of fat (not lard, but oil, butter, bacon etc) this adds more of that meaty greasy flavour to the dish, this works with my boyfriends kids, the fattier the dish, the more they'll eat, it's not good for you but it tastes good
You could always tell him that if he doesn't like what you cook then he can cook his own meals!!!
I hope this is helpful

my hubby used to be quite picky. he is sill a meat, cheese and potato guy for the most part, but he is a lot better. i have lots of cookbooks and i go through them occasionally and pick a few recipes . then i ask him to give them a look and let me know what he thinks would be good (be careful though--pictures can work for or against ya'). that way i have an idea of a new direction to head in and i can "adjust" the recipe so we are both happy!!

May I recommend Gerbers Baby Food, for your boy friend?
Sounds like a spoiled brat.

If he won't eat Gerbers, then try this recipe.

Simple, fairly quick, and tastes great.

EGG & CHILI CASSEROLE

10 eggs
1/2 C butter
1/2 cup flour
2 four oz. cans chopped, mild green chilis (Ortegas)
1 tsp salt
1 pt. cottage cheese
1 1/2 lb mont. jack cheese (shredded)

Grease 9x13 pan lightly.

Whip eggs until blended.

Add remaining ingredients.

Stir together.

Pour into pan.

Bake at 350 until set. (30-45 min.)

You should look through the recipes at these sites and keep looking until you find ones you both might like. Look at any food manufacturers' website -- most have recipe links & search boxes. You can usually search recipes by entering "ingredients".

My girlfriend is also really picky, so I know how you feel. A lot of times we just eat different meals.
