I took it to a mechanic. He banged the area below glove compartment and then AC worked for sometime. He said ac motor needs to change. Part 100.00 plus 1-2 hrs of labor. Can I buy the ac motor and change it myself?

I had this same issue, many people told me that it was my compressor gone bad. Come to find out, all I needed was a re-charge of freon. From what the mechanic told me, he said that if the system is low of refrigerant it will cycle on and off.

Most likely the a/c control relay is going bad, it can overheat and turn the a/c compressor and fan off.

No! You need to take your car to a reliable mechanic. The cars / trucks to day are to complex for the average person to fix.

May be just low in freon. Go see a good A/C service center. I wouldn't recommend a do it your self on this.
